MY PHOTOS!!

(for some reason blogger won't let me write a proper title anymore!)

Ready for another post filled with my Canadian photos from the last week...?!!

----------------

These are Salmon berries....native in this area:

they come in pink and pale yellow.
I've never had them before (..obviously!)

They're okay...not amazingly flavoured..but a fun snack to pick when walking past!

I went raspberry picking the other day...which was super fun!

we picked about 4 LITRES of raspberries! (to add to the 4 L we already had at home!)

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......perfect little ruby jewels!

yes, they were as yummy as they look!

poosibly even yummier!

We had huckleberry pancakes with raspberries and mapel syrup for breakfast this morning....SO SO GOOD!

Then today I went for a 13km cycle ride around a lake, which was soo much fun!

This was pretty much what the ride mostly looked like (turn to your right and you can see the lake).

super pretty!
Saw this cooool totem pole on the cycle:
from bottom to top....whale...bear...eagle

food chain?

and I got to hold a teeny weeny eensy weency little doggie called Alfredo (isn't that a great name for tiny doggie?!)

Look! It's a robin's nest! with a blue egg!!
I had no idea that robin's layed blue eggs! (...but perhaps that is just a manifestation of my usual lack of general knowledge.)

Then I went to the beach one day:

(see message in sand)
Oh yeh!! The best medical elective ever!!

oh and I saw a bald eagle.....

both stuffed....and not stuffed:

I know these don't look like very impressive pictures at first glance, but if you click to enlarge you can actually see the eagles pretty clearly, with their white heads and white wing tips

(I also saw a humming bird the other day too! sooooooooooooooo pretty!)

I thought this was a nice close-up shot I took:

and a little catterpillar crawling on a branch:

(and people say my blog is full of random nonsense! Tsk! I provide nothing but quality blog surfing material here!)

Okay, so here is another British Columbian delicacy:
The THIMBLE BERRY

These berries are really odd; they're like a little cap, which you peel off the main bud

I though they were pretty yummy!
Like a little burst of flavour!

and then I also went boating again, this time in the sun!

It's my new favouritest thing to do
(with the exception of going to Mass, and all things Catholic related )

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Look at those snow-capped peaks in the background! GORGEOUS I tells ya!

so much fun!

We had a little yummy picnic on the boat!

surrounded by the beautiful scenery

and then we saw SEALS!!

SEALS!!!
CLICK ON THEM TO SEE THEM UP CLOSE!!

seriously, the best elective. EVER.

oh yeh, and I'm doing some hospital work too!

I've been in the operating theatre this week, which has been fun; helping the surgeon with his operations (only downside...hat hair after wearing a scrub hat all day!! (imaine wearing a shower cap.. for 8 hours...then picture your hair...yeh, not so good..!) )

and the Canadian people are SO SO SO FRIENDLY!
Like they actually genuinely seem to care about you!
sooo not-English!

Oh, I forgot to update you all, but thank God Chris got home from Hawaii okay!
My mum had stocked our fridge with food, but he promptly went to her house on arrival for a big meal!

It took him about 4 days to recover from the jet-lag, but he is fine now, back to his PhD!

Believe it or not he is on ANOTHER conference this upcoming week!

Mama-mia he's been on more all-expenses-paid-for trips with his PhD than I'll probably go on in my entire life!

anyhoo, better go get ready for bed now.

hope you are all well and you enjoyed the pics!

-x-x-x-

All your wonderful pictures are making me homesick. ;-)qr

I hope you put some of the raspberries in the freezer for me. Mind you, they're way better fresh.

Back to blogging and happy to visit your site again, Antonia.

Your photos of BC are BEAUTIFUL! I've seen Canada from New Brunswick to Alberta, but never yet made it all the way west. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
