my kayaking adventure!

okay, I know I said I'd post my thoughts on Harry Potter, and I promise I will ( I've now finished reading it!) but I just *had* to post on this first...

I WENT KAYAKING TODAY!!

our kayaks

and I didn't fall in!! (thank God too because I had tucked my digital camera into my life jacket!)

We went kayaking on the ocean, and not a lake, so we had the tremendous pleasure of having a couple of seals for company as we kayaked along!
They kept bobbing up and down around us, sticking out their little heads and snorting!
seriously! I'm not kidding! I kayaked with seals!

It was beautiful weather, warm with clear blue skies, the ocean calm and peaceful, a gentle refreshing breeze...surrounded by birds and seals....

...but after about 30 minutes of kayaking I started to feel very sea-sick....!

I am prone to getting motion sickness, and have been known to puke up in cars on particularly twisty car jounrnies, but I didnt think it would affect me while on the ocean...but it did!

Oh man, how lame am I?!

Kayaking in the most beautiful part of the world, with stunning surroundings, on the most perfect day, with wonderful company...and all I can do is try and concentrate on not vomiting!

(thankfully though I wasn't sick!)

We went for a good 2 hour kayak, which I think is pretty good for a beginner! (and especially one with a dodgy tummy!)

and then I found a cooperative seal, which I managed to tame and jump on and go for a ride...!

nb: if it's not totally obvious...these guys are just models!

and then I fulfilled my dream of seeing a real deer up close and personal....!

Three weeks today and I'll be sitting on the plane flying back to England....back to the rain...the cold....the floodings....work......*sniffs* Waaaaaa!! I wanna stay here!

But on the plus side...back to Chris! yey!

I don't think I could kayak! I get sea sick too. My sis, Anna is in Alaska right now and she will try (or has already tried) kayaking for the first time, too! I'm glad you didn't fall in or we might not have seen those pretty pictures!

Antonia's off exploring the ocean while I'm stuck in the office. Sigh. Ok, I won't be selfish. I'll share the ocean. :-)

I'm looking forward to coming up at the beginning of August! I'll join you in kyaking!
