German Bishops Stop Plan by Police to Hand out Condoms at World Youth Day

COLOGNE, August 11, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - With the pervasiveness of the
condom doctrine in government, media and education it is perhaps understandable
that Germany's police union would have thought that distributing condoms at
World Youth Day was a good idea.

Prrotests from Church officials caused the GdP union to back off. The police
include condom distribution at any event where large crowds are expected to
gather. A bewildered sounding GdP union spokeswoman said, "We don't want to
offend anyone," and said the decision to cancel the distribution was "an issue
of sensitivity."

Other plans to distribute condoms and anti-Catholic literature at WYD are still
in place however. The group, Catholics for a Free Choice, has said it will not
back off and is going ahead with an expensive advertising campaign pushing
sexual immorality to WYD pilgrims.

In related news, Catholic dissident Hans Kung has complained that the current
movement of enthusiastic young people reclaiming their Church from the grip of
the dissidents of the 1960's is "triumphalistic." Europe's cadre of aging
leftist "Catholic" activists has grown increasingly estranged from the modern
Church and, as in Toronto in 2002, have organized a "parallel" protest event to
which Kung is rumoured to have been invited.

Cardinal Joachim Meisner of Cologne, who has dismissed Kung's complaints and
the protest event, sees them as the sour grapes of a failed revolution. The
incredible success of World Youth Day - which in Manila in 1995 drew the
largest crowd of human beings ever recorded - has infuriated Catholic
dissidents such as Francis Kissling and Kung.

Many consider that the greatest legacy the late John Paul II left the Church
and the world was the revival of Christian orthodoxy, particularly among the
millions of young people who have attended World Youth Days. The rise of the
self-proclaimed, "JPII Generation," was wholly unforeseen by the greying
radicals whose glory days were spent systematically dismantling traditional
Catholic institutions and attempting to re-write Catholic teachings,
particularly on sexual morality.

Meisner told Catholic News Agency that the day of the bitter anti-Catholic
liberal theologians is over. Calling them the "people of yesterday," he said,
"The entire event is oriented to be an encounter for young people and not for
'seniors'."

Cardinal Meisner said, "There is nothing for them (Küng and Drewermann) here,
as young people are not interested in the silliness they fostered for so long.
We don't need any Drewermann or Küng or anything else stale at WYD."

World Youth Day preliminary activities open today in Germany's Catholic
dioceses.

World Health Organization Classifies Contraceptives as Highly Carcinogenic

So let's see...the pill will destroy your unborn child, it will destroy your relations with your spouse (if the person you are sleeping with even IS your spouse), it will destroy your body and will destroy your relationship with God.

alas, Satan is cunning.

-----

World Health Organization Classifies Contraceptives as Highly Carcinogenic

GENEVA, Switzerland, August 8, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A press release issued on July 29th of this year by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a division of the World Health Organization (WHO), declared the little publicized classification of combined estrogen-progestogen oral contraceptives (OCs) as carcinogenic. The IARC placed the contraceptives into their Group 1 classification, the highest classification of carcinogenicity, used only "when there is sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity in humans." (emphasis theirs)

Combined estrogen-progestogen OCs are the most commonly prescribed forms of contraceptives. According to the IARC "worldwide, more than 100 million women - about 10% of all women of reproductive age - currently use combined hormonal contraceptives."

This outright declaration by the World Health Organization of the proven dangers of combined OCs comes as an unexpected surprise to many who have been working for years to publicize their dangers. "I'm stunned that they would come out and say that, because they've been denying this for years," said Toronto area MD and medical adviser to Campaign Life Coalition, Dr. Shea. But he added, "They're really only admitting something that's been known."

In 2003 the National Cancer Institute (NCI) became one of the latest added to the list of scientific bodies that had found a substantially increased risk of several types of cancer amongst combined OC users, citing a "significant increase" of the risk of breast cancer, as well as an increase in the risk of cervical and liver cancers. Despite this admission, no significant steps have yet been taken to protect womens' health and to curb the use of combined OCs.

The IARC press release further confirms the NCI's findings, declaring that: "Previously, combined oral contraceptives had been determined to be carcinogenic to humans, but only primary liver cancer was specifically implicated. The Working Group concluded that combined oral contraceptives alter the risk of several common cancers in women. They increase a woman's risk of cervical cancer, breast cancer, and liver cancer."

The study added the oft-cited medical justification for the use of OCs that, "At the same time, they have a protective effect against endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer."

Despite the surprisingly explicit admission by the generally pro-abortion, pro-contraceptive World Health Organization that combined OCs are beyond-a-doubt carcinogenic, the Planned Parenthood (PP) website continues to distribute false and dangerous information to women. The portion of the PP site dealing with combined OCs, in response to the so-called 'Myth' that OCs cause cancer, responds with the "truth" that: "The pill protects against cancer of the ovaries, and cancer of the lining of the uterus." The now firmly established fact that OCs substantially increase the risk of several other types of cancer is summarily dismissed as without foundation.

Despite the immediate danger to the nearly 100 million women worldwide who are regularly ingesting the newly-defined 'carcinogenic' contraceptive pills, the IARC did not recommend that the regular prescription and easy availability of combined OCs should undergo any review. In this the IARC parallels the National Cancer Institute's study concluded with the recommendation that, instead of the obvious remedy of decreased use of the medically dangerous combined contraceptives, women should undergo frequent mammograms and Pap tests, to discover and curb already developing cancers.

My graduation (+ 1 month)

I know this is month-old news, but my graduation from University with a BA (Bachelor of Arts) was on July 2nd, the day before I left for America, and so I never got to update you on the days' events. (Plus now blogger has set up a much easier way of putting photos into posts I can put up all my pics with less effort).

As I mentioned before, my BA is just a nice 'byproduct' of my time at University. As I am studying medicine all I really want is my medical degree which I wont get till 2008. In the last 3 years of University however, as well as studying towards my MBBChir, I was also working towards my BA.
And So now I can put Miss. Antonia Julia X*X*X BA(Hons) when I sign my name! (oh, and the posh latin version of the name of my Uni, however England is a small place, so I wont tell you that!).

The day was very pleasant. Nice and sunny and it fun seeing all my friends dressed up in their graduation gear. It was actually quite sad to consider that, had I not been doing medicine, this would've been IT. I would be entering the 'real world' of work, taxes, bills, jobs etc. My University career would've been over! Where do the years go?!

It's wierd how we must've lived every second of our lives till this moment right...NOW, yet when you look back, it's surprising how many years have gone by so quickly! (or at least, that's how it seems to me!)

anyway, here are some pictures from the day:

One sunny day at camp the Priests decided to celebrate mass outdoors on the decking of the main lodge.
Throughout mass the Priest's back was facing the lake on which there were about 15 geese happily swimming about.

Myself and a number of other people were able to witness the miracle that occured with these geese during mass.

From the start of the Eucharistic prayer I looked up, being absorbed in the holy words the priest was saying, and letting my eyes rest on the beauty of nature surrounding me, when I noticed the geese on the lake.

They were all clustered together on the lake and every single goose was still and silent.
I kid you not, EVERY SINGLE GOOSE had its head bowed down and was facing the altar. Not one moved at all.
They were all still, silent and appeared oh-so reverant with their heads lowered and all 15 facing the altar!

It's like they knew what was going on and that Jesus was really and truely present on the altar.

I was Eucharistic Minister during communion so I didn't get to check out the geese, but a friend of mine who had also noticed them told me thatthey were motionless and facing the altar throughout communion too.
At the end of communion when I got back to my place I looked up at them and the group had broken up and they were gently gliding around the lake.

It just brought such joy to the rest of my day!
The animals can sense God's real presence in the Eucharist!

St. Francis - Pray that we may all have greater faith in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
St. Joachim & St. Anne - Pray for us
(it was their feast day when this happened)

Contraception thoughts...

...having intercourse with contraception is analagous to recieving the Eucharist wrapped in plastic so that it can not be digested.

With the former there is no oneness & unity with your spouse.

With the latter there is no oneness & unity with Christ.

NOT LIVING TOGETHER

This has nothing to do with anything in my own life, but I found it really powerful so decided to post it:

~~~
QUESTION:
My question is this. There are some things in the Catholic religion that I believe to be old fashioned....like the not living with someone until married. I had a boyfriend when I was 18. We dated for 3 years. Had I not lived with him I would never have known that he was such and abusive, physically, mentally, and emotionally, person. He showed no signs of that until about 3 months after we moved in together. I would have ended up marrying him and been one the wiser until it was too late. i thank God all the time that I got out of that relationship.
ANSWER:
I'd also like to offer you some insight, possibly, into your boyfriend situation. If, from the beginning, you had stated your belief in no premarital sex, had focused on building a friendship, had focused on God, prayed together, insisted on a man who would be the spiritual head of the relationship, demanded respect and high standards of conduct... how long would he have been able to make it? Not 3 years, that's for sure. Men who are in-tune with Catholic teaching on these subjects... who are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-chastity are the kind of men that you will never have to "live with" before marriage to know their true character-- you can see is shining brightly as the lamp set on the hill. These men are godly men and their sights are set on what is good for YOU, your family, and your future together. And, you won't have to live with the ones who are not such men because they will self-select OUT of a relationship with you when you demand high standards of conduct.
GIDDY UP!! I'M BAAACK!
I'm back after one glorious Christ-filled month at Camp Covecrest in
Georgia (2 hours north of Atlanta, USA)
I had the most A-MAZING time in America! Being surrounded by joyous, holy,
God-filled Catholics was so inspiring and peaceful! YEY FOR THE BODY OF
CHRIST!! YEY FOR CHRIST'S ONE CHURCH ON EARTH! We had daily mass and daily
rosary, weekly stations of the cross, weekly reconcilliation, and adoration
three times a week.
My job as Summer Staff was to lead and organise the many crazy games, to
lead my own small group in in-depth discussions and to generally be a
servant to the teens who came to camp and help lead them closer to Christ.
We had the greatest time going rafting, rock climbing, doing high ropes,
swimming in the huge natural water-fall, tug of war in the mud-pit,
battling in 'Water Wars 2005' and competing in Messy Olympics! I've never
been so covered in syrup, chocolate sauce, bird seed, shaving cream,
sprite, CoolWhip, frosting, mash potatoes, mud etc etc...as I was this last
month!!
The Camp were very very mildly charismatic, but still extremely orthodox.
If any of my readers have been to a charismatic adoration before then you
will understand me when I say that we tried our absolute hardest not to
encourage the hysterical crying and collapsing (mostly, if you ask me, due
to auto-suggestion) that going on during the majority of charismatic
adoration. In fact we even discouraged it and tried to focus on the
development of a conversion less rooted in hyper-emotion.
I also made awesome friends with the other 15 summer staff on my team. We
totally bonded and many tears were shed when we left each other at the
airport. I feel so privileged to have had this opportunity to get to know
such wonderfully Catholic people who strive daily to live as Christ taught,
and as how His One True Church proclaims. We may never see each other in
person again, but we know we will meet weekly at mass as we are united as
one body
I am now very very jet-lagged and ill! There is a 5 hour time difference
between here and Atlanta so I didn't get to sleep till 4am last night!
eugh! I also caught some horrible disease on the plane as it was FREEZING
cold! I had on 5 layers of clothes and 2 blankets but was still shivering
and now I have a bad cold! eugh! stoopid jet-lag!
My darling Chris is actually, coincidentally, in the USA at the moment, so
I havent seen him yet. He is at a conference in Baltimore and will be
returing tonight. One of my friends from camp, on her way back up to New
York from Georgia, actually took him out to lunch yesterday which was
really nice!
anyway, here are a couple of pics for your enjoyment...
