I have had this last week off!
Yipppeee one whole week of holiday!! I haven't had a week of holiday with no revision since summer 2005!

Unfortunatly the weather has been pretty pooey and Chris has been in the lab finishing off his 3 research papers, 2 posters, and 5 experiments he has to do for his conference in Hawaii (the week after next) so I've been home alone most of the time.
However, given that I have been sleeping till 11am most days ( I know!!! It sounds so lazy doesn't it?! But frankly, I had a huge post-exams sleep debt that needed paying off!), and have had like 300 bajillion things to do before leaving for USA & Canada, my days have been pretty busy.
(plus I have been unable to use my usual excuse of "But I have revision!" in order to avoid doing the washing up, laundry, vaccuming and leaving it all to Chris, as I have done for the last...umm...6 months (...possibly longer!) and so those house-hold chores have filled my days too!)

It's also been nice to finally be able to go to daily Mass every day of the week again, and daily rosary prayer group, as opposed to just a couple of evening Masses.
I have also been able to see lots of my lovely friends and say good-bye!

me, chilling!
(I had to cut out everyone else in the picture!)

A cake I made!
( I kinda ruined it aesthetically by putting the cold strawberries on the warm chocolate...which made the chocolate melt ....but it all tasted super yummy once it was put in the fridge and cooled!)
Proof of its yumminess...!!
(and he lives to tell the tale!)
So anyway...Chris & I leave this Sunday (in fact, in 48 hours we will be in America!)
We will spend one week in Boston, basically holiday-ing, and staying with a very lovely wonderful friend of ours who I met at Catholic summer camp in Georgia, USA a few years ago!
Me & her were randomly assigned as "Prayer Partners" at Camp!
Coincidently, at the end of summer camp Chris happened to be in Baltimore on a conference, and in order to drive back home after Camp my friend was driving through Baltimore, she very very kindly offered to pick Chris up & take him to dinner!! Even though they had never met!
She then came to spend a year studying in Rome, and so came to England to visit me for a weekend!!
While there we hope to see Boston, Harvard, New York and anything else we can fit in in our 5.5 days! (..including watching Shrek3!).
At the end of the week Chris flies straight off to Hawaii (...like I said before...am totally NOT jealous!!) and I'm heading for beautiful British Columbia to stay with Dilexit Prior and her family who have been exceptionally kind to me and offered to look after me for 7 whole weeks!
British Columbia!
okay, I should probably end this rambling post now!
Don't know if I'll have time to blog before catching the plane so if not...I'll write from the USA!
(say a prayer for our flight! Although I went on my first plane journey aged 3 weeks old, I'm no fan of flying and pretty much dread it!)

Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall is fun. Also, (I haven't done them myself, but I've been wanting to!) I hear Duck Tours are a blast. You could always walk the Freedom Trail -- you get to go by some neat historical stuff (but it's 2 miles, though you don't have to do the whole thing if time is an issue). Ooh, you should totally go see MY priest on a Sunday if you can. :o) They only have one Mass on Sunday during the summer -- 6 pm, at Marsh Chapel at Boston University. It's on Commonwealth Avenue. It's on the green line on the Boston University Central stop, literally right there. It's in a Protestant church, though, because we don't have a Catholic church on campus (boo, but we have special dispensation from the archdiocese), but my priest is amazing.
You might also want to visit the cathedral of the archdiocese -- Cathedral of the Holy Cross. It's beautiful. The Museum of Science is pretty neat, as is the Museum of Fine Arts. Love both of them. You could visit the Aquarium, but it's not all that impressive unless you really love penguins. They have a ton, and they're adorable. IMAX, but that's not exactly anything you couldn't see anywhere else. There's literally a ton of things to do that it's hard to think of anything! Chances are, whatever you're interested in, they'll have. Heck, they even have a Catholic Church in the Prudential. Talk about convenience. I've gone there several times for daily Mass because the times are more convenient. Um, and I've written a lot -- you don't have to publish this if you don't want to, but I just wanted to let you know. Hopefully I'm not too late in giving you this. :o) Again, have fun. Wish I could meet you myself!
Thanks for the well wishes Jackie & Jess!
Thanks a lot for the extra advise Lindsay!
We will be landing at 2:30pm and were hoping to go to Mass in Boston on Sunday evening. Chris was in charge of finding a Chruch so I dont know what he has found, but I will definitly tell him about your Chaplaincy! Plus 6pm sounds like a perfect time!
Thanks for all the other insider-advice too! I bought a guide book today so I will note down the places you said!
Thanks!!
I'll post pictures!
:-)
