Today is the feast of Corpus Christi; where we especially remember Jesus's words at the last supper "This is my body....This is my blood" .
Food is essential for existance; and we can not live without it.
In the Eucharist Jesus becomes our food. Not in a symbolic way, but in a totally real way.
He becomes our food to be intimately close with us, to nourish our souls and to be with us.
It can't not be true.
God loves us so much, that He doesn't just want to be with us spiritually, but He wants to be with us physically and tangibly in a real way in our life. Not just "up there in Heaven" but He is right here, truely amongst us; physically present with us in our phyisical existance.
He would never abandon us.
Just as an email or a phone call to a loved is only second best to actually being WITH them, Jesus wanted to be truely and really with us as we journey through life, so that all people, no matter when in history they lived, can be really with Him.
and He makes that happen in the Eucharist.
Christ's humility and love for us is inconceivable.

O Sacred Banquet! wherein
The Christ is received,
The memory of His Passion recalled,
The Soul is filled with grace, and
A pledge of future glory given to us.
Praise Be Jesus Christ Now and Forever!
