Throwing of rice...

I don't know if people do this in other parts of the world, but this is how it's done in Italy; the rice to be thrown on the newlyweds at the end of the Nuptial Mass is put into little pretty packages, one per guest so that everyone has something to throw.

Here are some of the 100 packages of rice that we are making at the moment:

They each have 2 handfuls of rice...that means Chris & I will get 200 handfuls of rice thrown on us!!!

Maybe I should bring an umbrella! Or use my veil as a shield!

At the last wedding I attended, the people were given small bottles of "Wedding Bubbles" to blow onto the bride and groom!

so where did the tradition for confetti come from then? OR is that an obvious answer?

It's becoming more and more popular to blow bubbles rather than throw rice at weddings in America. However, I've been to at least one wedding where birdseed was thrown!

I think the reason some people began switching to bubbles is supposedly because birds came along, ate the uncooked rice, and got sick.

I think those are just dumb birds. I LOVE your little packets - pink & green are my favorite colors!
