An article in the Times Online entitled "Why I believe abortion is part of being a good mother"
" If women are, by biology, commanded to host, shelter, nurture and protect life, why should they not also be empowered to end life, too?"
"Last year, I had an abortion, and I can honestly say it was one of the least difficult decisions of my life. I’m not being flippant when I say it took me longer to decide what worktops to have in the kitchen.."
"I would like to see a time where abortion is considered to be an intelligent, logical, humble, compassionate thing to do. I would like abortion to be considered as, perversely, one of the ultimate acts of good mothering. "
poor blind confused woman.

Those quotes send chills down my spine.
Lord have mercy!
oh wow, having an abortion isn't part of being a good mother. it doesn't make her a mother at all!! all the quotes makes me sick, but the second one's the worst comparing a life to a kitchen worktop.
Oh, how painful to read this! I would love so much to have another child and to read this pains me terribly! I pray the Lord will have mercy on that women. With Sunday being Divine Mercy Sunday we should pray for all who have been involved with abortion. How perfect to print this post today. I shall remember her on Sunday. Wifeofdadwithnoisykids
Hmmn, makes you think, doesn't it? How an otherwise intelligent (I assume) person can have such monstrous thoughts and call them good. I think I'll have to go and think about that.
Thanks for posting that, Antonia. Really very educational.
Oh, and I briefly posted about something related over on ATW (very big UK blog).
Portugal's going to pass that horrible law in clear violation of its own laws (a clear minority voted on a vote which had no mandate, yet the law will be implemented in a little under 60 days) and will soon legalise abortion. Oddly, some ATW commentators are happy about this.
To see why I think this is relevant here, please go here and have a look:

Feel free to drop in a comment to challenge the horrible and apparently prevalent idea that abortion is the best thing since sliced bread. Please. I've never seen anybody change their view that abortion's A-OK without that view first being challenged.
how sad for this woman.
I taught with a gal like this years ago- never realizing how deep or shallow others believe in such treachory!
pray for her that her soul turns to good and for her unborn soul she was to guide through life.
how awful...wanting abortion to be seen as an act of "compassion". Surely she can't truly believe that...or can she? that is so sad.
love your blog, antonia!
In researching for the post I'm writing on this, I found that Tanit (of Carthage infamy) is sometimes written as Moloch, who I well remember as delighting in this sort of thing. Following the Wiki links, I found a mention of Tophet, who is mentioned in a hymn written by John Wesley, which I present for your consideration for its... relevance to all this:

Hello all, thanks for your comments. Yes, it is inconceivable that someone can actually think like that; but worse, that it is seen as being an acceptable view-point by society!
MrSmith; thanks for the links! The words to that John Wesley song are very appropriate indeed! ( I have heard that tune before, but never those words!) I look forward to seeing your post!
Antonia (and readers),
So sorry to be flooding this post with comments on essentially the same thing, but I thought I'd mention I've finished my going-away-and-thinking about all this and have posted the end result. A word of warning first, though. I'm not as nice and sweet as the very nice Antonia. For whatever they're worth, my thoughts on this matter can be seen here.
Our Lady of Fatima, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
*sigh* One very last thing and then I promise I'll stop this comment-flood. I've been convinced by some commentors to cross-post the ickkle article at ATW. With any luck, this'll mean more visitors for your lovely blog, Antonia. Enjoy.
Now I really am going to bed!
