no subject

I can't think of a subject line for this post, it is too horrific.

One of my good friends at medical school found out today that she has cancer.

BAD cancer.

She is only 22 years old.

For the immediate future she has to have an operation to have her entire large intestine out, and then a CT scan to see how much the tumour has spread round her body, but regardless the future looks BAD.

It is so horrible I'm not sure if I'm going to be sick or cry.

If the CT scan shows that the tumour hasn't spread anywhere, the median survival is 5-8years.

If the CT scan shows that the tumour has spread, median survival is 36 months.

Her dad also died of throat cancer 1.5years ago and that completely and utterly destroyed her family (her mum, and 3 sisters).

This is so horrific it's........I can't even begin to comprehend it.

She's only 22!

I don't know what else to say.

I am sooooooo sorry to hear this. Please know that I will say a prayer for her and her soul although I am not sure how worthy my prayers are with God. Nevertheless, I shall pray.

Please tell her about St. Pio of Pietrelcina whose feast day is today, Sept. 23 and ask for his intercession. He worked miracles during his life and still does in Heaven. Even if he suffered the stigmata for 50 years he was always joyful. He said Pray, Hope and Don't Worry. We must hope in Christ. We must cling to Him the Divine Healer for nothing is impossible with God.

I will keep her in my prayers.

I will pray the rosary for your friend today. I hope she doesn't need anyone from my specialty, but if I can help in any way just email me:

God bless her. God bless you.
