Pope John Paul II commissioned a Natural Family Planning book to be ready for the 1980 Synod of Bishops (the theme for that year was family life). The book is called "Natural Family Planning: Nature's Way, God's Way".
The book has 62 contributors from 22 nations, and a wonderful priest named Father Anthony Zimmerman was the general editor.
There are three sections: Experience, Science, Theology, plus an appendix with Humanae Vitae and other official documents.
It is a SERIOUSLY good book, and now it is avaliable ONLINE! (no charge)
GO HERE: Natural Family Planning: Nature's Way, God's Way
Sample excerpts:
Experience:
Mother Teresa: "The family needs the child. For the family the child is the sunshine of God's love, the hope of eternal happiness."
Sr. Helen Paul: "A change seems to occur in an individual's self-image, the way a man sees himself as a man. He becomes a person aware of his dignity, a person worthy of respect; a person who can expect respect from his peers, from his wife, and his children. His personal discovery of self-control in his sexual life opens up to him the opportunity for change in other areas: gambling, smoking, alcohol."
Science:
Evelyn and John Billings: "Our scientific studies undertaken in Melbourne in collaboration with J.B. Brown and H.G. Burger have shown that ovulation occurs in a close time-relationship to the Peak symptom, usually immediately afterwards."
Joseph Roetzer: A very simple rule ("after cessation of this cervical mucus flow watch for 3 'higher' temperature readings which are higher than the preceding 6 lower readings") identifies onset of a period of absolute infertility continuing into the beginning of the following cycle -- the Pearl Index is "zero" (no pregnancies per 100 couples per year of use).[4]
Theology:
Marcellino Zalba: "The great majority of (Bishops’) conferences stated either explicitly or in a manifestly implicit way their total agreement with the Pope."
Dionigi Tettamanzi: "Now, the proper role of theology Is to search for "God's design," to discover "God's intentions" with regard to man and his problems. This design is "impressed" in man himself, who has been created in God's image ..."
Enjoy!

Thank you SOOOO much for this! I would love to read that.
Mother Teresa's words just gave me shivers as they always do.
I would love to see more people be more willing to take a close look at natural family planning instead of shrugging it off as something that does not work.
Here in Australia the Billings method is very popular, but I am trying to soak in all of couple to couple leagues huge book!
Thanks lots for the link x
