"INTO GREAT SILENCE"

This is a new film that has just hit Bonn, Germany.

It is a three-hour documentary about the silent life of Carthusian monks.

"Into Great Silence" is the brainchild of director Philip Gröning, who waited17 years for the permission to film inside La Grande Chartreuse monastery inthe French Alps, reported Deutsche Welle. In 2002 he joined the cloistered monks for several months to capture unprecedented images of life inside the monastery. The documentary, which the director says gives you the experience of living inthe monastery, is currently playing to packed cinemas in Germany.

Antonia,
I just came across your Bolg on INTO GREAT SILENCE. I just returned from the Sundance Film Feztival, where I watched the film......It is a Masterpiece!
I tested my vocation with the Carthusians at their British Monastery in Somerset;(Parkminster).
By all means, see this film, and Gods' blessing on your upcoming nuptuals.

I watched the trailer, thanks for the link over. I would like to watch it, but doubt it would come out here too :(
I love the chants, they sound so heavenly!
I think it would be a blessing to watch this film, so maybe some day it could come out on a dvd.

I'd like to see this film sometime.

If what you say is true about it playing to huge audience, well then so much for all the media hype about a "secularist" Europe.

Speaking about that, here's a post I wrote on that topic you maybe interested in antonia. ;)
