My first post of the year...

...comes 7 days into 2006!

I'm not entirely sure what I've been doing this last week; a mixture of being really busy and really not-busy!

Our new year celebrations (wow, it does seem like a long time ago now) were great. Chris came back from his parents' house where he spent Christmas, and we had some friends over from Church. We had a fine meal, and then watched a video about Our Lady's apparition in Fatima (wow!), sung some songs from the hymn books we borrowed from Church, prayed all 4 mysteries of the rosary and the divine mercy chaplet....and finished exactly 2 and a half minutes before midnight, so we enjoyed the firework display put on in London via the BBC as Big Ben rung out the end of 2005 and start of 2006!!

The rest of this week I have been busy doing bits and bobs of stuff that need to be done before term starts again on Monday (like buying new glasses, doctors check up, getting some decent clothes in the sales for the hospital) , and catching up on emails and organising my papers.
I've also been trying to revise all the stuff I *should* have learnt last term, but till Wednesday I just couldn't seem to get the motivation going. It's actually kindof ironic that I got all that spam in my last post from the 'Mesothelioma lawyers' because I actually had to write up a project on mesothelioma on Wednesday! ...but I didn't go to their website! (Mesothelioma is a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, hence why you get "mesothelioma lawyers", because you can sue your employers if it turns out they didn't ensure your working environment was asbestos-free. In England patients gets government compensation if they can show that they got it due to exposure in the workplace from the days before its dangers were known. It's a horrible cancer though because it can take 20-40yrs after exposure to develop, and life expectancy is only about 2 years once you have it).

Hm, what else has been going on in my first week of 2006...oh yeh, it was my brother's 20th birthday yesterday (he's an Epiphany baby!) so we had a mini party for him (very mini!). I can't believe he is 20!! Wow, time....flies!

Chris' parents have come down from 'ooop norf' (translation: 'up north' said in a northern english accent!) where they live, and will be spending the night at my house tonight. They've met my parents before, but everyone thought it would be nice if they could come a bit longer this time so as to discuss wedding plans and stuff. They should be here in about 5 mins or so.

Finally....I am a famous published author!!! ....sortof!

I wrote an article for our Diocese newspaper on my summer experiences working at the Catholic summer camp in the USA last summer, and it was published in their November edition!
Only one person in my entire parish recognised me in the newspaper, so I don't think I can justifiably claim fame!

(sorry it's a bit mutilated but I had to get rid of my surname & the name of my home town!)

Wow, I wish I'd seen this earlier, I woulda printed it out so Kelly could know that she's in pictures published in two countries! Does that make her quadra-state?
