Bona was a mystic, visionary, and an Augustinian tertiary by age ten.
On the way home from a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, she was captured by Muslim pirates, but was later rescued.

As I read the details of today's Saint-of-the-day, it made me think of Madeleine McCann, who was kidnapped in Portugal almost a month ago now, and hasn't been seen.
The anguish and pain of her parent's must be unimaginable.
May St. Bona of Pisa, a girl who once was kidnapped herself, join her prayers to ours as we pray for Madeleine's safe and speedy return.

It's a good idea to ask that St.Bona of Pisa join her prayers with ours. It's so cowardly to take a defenseless child.
Isn't it just awful..i don't know how her parents are still standing?
I cannot imagine what her parents are experiencing right now. Death would be hard enough, but not to know where your child is or what has happened to her?
Worse yet, if the Marrakech sighting turns out to be accurate, the similarities could be greater than previously thought. Morrocco used to be a hub of slavery and we know there are those in the modern world who haven't moved to a civilised state.
