abortion; oh Lord have mercy

For a few years now I've been a member of the "Helpers of God's Precious Infants" - a Catholic Pro-Life organisation here in England. They pray in front of abortion clinics, do post-abotion counselling and offer practical help to pregnant women and new mothers (e.g. baby food, clothes, toys) and lots of holy charitable things like that.

I enjoy their frequent news-letters which always have wonderful stories in of mothers who chose life for their babies after having spoken with counsellors who were praying and offering help in front of the abortion clinics.

(but their bulletins also make me so sad, to hear of how many thousands of babies are aborted...600 each and every single day in England & Wales).

Anyway, I got their most recent bulletin yesterday, and it was all about a big international Pro-Life conference that was held in Fatima, Portugal that many of the members of "Helpers of God's Precious Infants" attended.

In this bulletin they tell the story of a group of Austrain Pro-Lifers who came to the conference from Austria with their own 6 foot steel cross...made from the medical instruments used in abortions.

Thanks to the power of prayer, an abortion clinic in Austria had to close down and it was bought by a pro-life group and became a pro-life centre.
But the abortionists had left a bunch of their abortion-instruments behind....and so the pro-lifers used them to make the cross.

Chilling to think of how many thousands of innocent babies were killed with those instruments.
May God have mercy on the people who used them, and may they convert and repent.

They are the holy innocents of our own time.

In the centre of the cross you can see a crucifix and a model of a baby to be aborted (may need to click to enlarge)

Just thinking about abortion makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach.

Let us pray pray pray for an end to this horrendous evil.

But it's not just abortion....all chemical methods of contraception (the coil, and all types of contraceptive pill, the morning after pill, the contraceptive patches) work by preventing an embryo from implanting into the lining of the womb....

[an embryo being a the start of human life...not an egg...an embryo is .a new person]

so sure, 600 abortions a day take place in this country, but how many thousands more humans are killed by all contraceptive use?

Poor Jesus.

We must console Him.
