...did you know that they can give unborn babies blood transfusions?!
I had no idea that it was possible to tranfuse blood to babies while they are still in their mother's womb, but apparently it is possible, and does happen!
I just thought that was fascinating!
I also saw a baby today who was born early at 24 weeks of gestation (full-term pregnancy is 37 weeks gestation), he is still small but doing well.
24 weeks is also the the upper limit allowed for abortions for any reason in England & Wales (but you can abort up till birth if you have a 'good' reason).
It's kinda scary to think how in one ward of a hospital they are using the latest technology to keep a 24 week old baby alive...and in another one they are killing them.
How can that make sense to people?
How people think that someone's right to live or die is just based on what other people want?
That doesn't make sense!
All humans have an intrinsic value, an instrinsic right to life, which is completely independent of what other's want.
You can't just kill someone because you don't want them around!
crazy blind world.
Anyway,
the other day a young mother (she must've been about 26 years old) gave birth to a baby with Down's Syndrome. They didn't actually know it had Down's Syndrome till it was born, and then the mid-wives thought it had a few of the typical DS features, and so they did a chromosome check, and it came back positive.
The parents were a bit shocked ( I think it was the last thing they expected), and when I was telling Chris on the phone the first thing he said to me was something like "We should really thank Jesus."
That really struck me...but he is right! I should thank Jesus even more for this girl's life.
Obviously, I don't know what this mother & her boyfriend would've done if they'd known that their baby had Down's Syndrome before birth, but if they did what 90% of all other parents do when they find out...the baby wouldn't be alive today.
(yes, shocking isn't it? 90% of those people who find out their baby has Down's Syndrome have the baby aborted. How awful)
So thank you Jesus for this precious little girl's life! May she lead her parent's and family to you!
There is a little boy on the children's ward at the moment with Down's Syndrome, and despite the fact that he is ill and burning up with fever, he *always* without fail, waves good-bye to you, when you leave!! He is so adorable and affectionate!
anyway, I better get on with some work!
God Bless
xxxx

Ill be 19 wks preggo tomorrow and I cant believe someone would kill it.......I feel it move, its a baby!!!!!!
Yes, thank you Jesus for that little baby's life!
How wonderful that you see babies so young.
Amen, thank you Jesus for the new life. I went to church with a DS girl, she was always happy, chirpy and loved conversation. Just like anyone else.
:)
It is so sad and tragic that humans can justify anything. I cannot understand how anyone can justify killing a tiny baby, but they do.
My aunt had Down's Syndrome. She died this past summer, which was so incredibly hard on me. But she was the sweetest, most loving person I've met in a really long time.
I know people who got tested and were told that their child would have Down's Syndrome. It was heartbreaking news for the parents, but they decided that they would love their little bundle of joy all the same. They decided to not abort. The child was born. No Down's Syndrome; the tests were wrong. I understand that it can be difficult on people and I make no movement to judge, because it's not my place and I certainly cannot understand what is in their heart, but it makes me scared to think how many children have been aborted for false positive tests and how many families are missing an extra place setting at the table each day. Awful situation for the child and an awful situation for the family. No one wins in those instances. It can't be easy to deal with that.
