Not so funny

I was at a medics dinner the other day and was sitting next to a medical Professor and I was telling him that I'd got married over the summer. After the usual 'Oh! congratulations!' (& me getting the feeling that he didn't think that was the wisest of career moves...!), the girls around me started talking about marriage and medicine, and he said:

"Did you know, that the life-expectancy for a kidney transplant is
longer than an average marriage?"

Everyone kinda laughed but....it's really not that funny!!
