not in England...

If I want to go for a break in my hospital in England, I walk outside (usually in the windy cold and rain) past all the patients smoking in front of the Non-Smoking signs, past traffic and car fumes into the students' common room, which is usually a mess.

When I go for a break in the hospital here I walk outside, into the warm sunshine, I go for a wander through the grass and bushes, occasionally seeing a grass snake or deer. I pick thimble-berries & now ripening black-berries to snack on, and sometimes walk so I can see the ocean and snowy mountains...

I will miss it here! (2 weeks today I'll be back in England).

Guess what I'm doing on Friday morning?!

SCUBA DIVING!!!

aargh! I'm excited & terrified!

I laughed when I read your description of stepping outside an English hospt.
I even saw staff in theatre blues in one of those smoking bus shelters they provide.
It's a weird sight.
