Q- Should I treat Good Friday as a day of mourning? Would it be wrong to do something enjoyable on Good Friday such as going to a play, sporting event or other performance?
A- The fact that Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence should give a clear signal that it is not a day of recreation. It would be most inappropriate to take part is some public form of recreation on the day on which we commemorate the suffering and death that Jesus endured for our benefit. It is a day a penance and prayer.
