There is a very tragic case in the news at the moment here in England:
A two-year-old girl wandered off from a nursery. After a few hours of searching for her, the nursery staff couldn't find her and so contacted her parents who immediatly joined in the search.
The little girl's mother recognised her daughter shoe floating in a backgarden pond and jumped in to get it.
But when she grabbed it she felt the toddler's leg and realised what had happened....the girl had drowned.
A terrible tragedy. But then as if this story isn't horrific enough, a few hours before the little girl's body was found, a van driver said he passed her toddling down a country lane by herself....but he didn't stop to pick her up because he was worried he might get accused of attempting to abduct her if he dropped her off at a police station.
The outcome of this tragedy could have been so different if only he had stopped and picked her up.
For me, this incident shows the importance of love in God's plans and it has reinforced the importance of loving your neighbour and the cosmic implications this can, and in many many cases does, have.
True charitable love puts the needs and the overall good of others before oneself, regardless of the perceived implications for your own well-being.
Look at Mary's unselfish 'Yes' to God; through her loving submission and denial of self, despite the potential problems, Our Saviour entered the world!
We should never stop ourselves from acting out of true compassinate love for another because of fear for ourselves of what the consequences might be. Before we do anything we should always consider whether the choice has been made out of love for God and out of a desire for the true good of our neighbour, or whether we are letting fear and darkness control our hearts.
Not acting because of fear, is not trusting in God's Providence.
Love shown to another, is love shown to Him, and He controls all things.

That's such a sad story. My brother got lost once and a guy on a motorcycle brought him back... that was quite a while ago, but we were so thankful for that kind man! Thanks for visiting my blog fellow Catholic girl! And don't let the wedding make you crazy! :)
WOW, it is really sad. im currently doing my teacher training, its tough, because of all the laws. and id never really thought of it like that. Im a christian, and sometimes find it so difficult to see that God has a part in everything, if only we see it!! i think i should realy read my bible more, but everytime i do, i end to read it like a story. does that make sense? any ideas? : )
Hi Maggie! Oh goodness; that sounds quite scary about your brother. Thank God for the honest man who found him!
...I'm trying not to let the wedding plans drive me insane! Actually, I am kinda enjoying it all! (although I have a feeling it will start to get a lot more stressful as we get closer!)
Hi Zoe, thank you for your comments! It is very difficult for teachers nowadays; there are so many laws & rules about what is/isn't acceptable behaviour for children. My fiance's dad is a primary school head-teacher, and he is always complaining about the vast amounts of paperwork that has to get filled in for even the smallest thing at school.
I guess the laws all mean well and are for the children's welfare, but maybe sometimes they can be a bit over the top!
I know what you mean about finding it difficult to see that God has a part is everything; I think we just have to have faith and keep persevering and trusting that He IS there, and does care so so so so very much about us, and about each and every single thing we think, do and say! We only exist because He sustains us in existance every single second!
Yes, I do get what you mean when you say that sometimes we can read the Bible like a story. What helped me was always reminding myself that it isn't *just* a story; it really really happened! The people were real everyday people and these were all real things that happened! It helped me put into perspective how increadible the life and teachings of Jesus were (& are!)
Thanks again for your message! :) -x-
Oh my goodness that is such a sad story, but such a powerful message. :(
