The Davinci Code

In my humble opinion, the book 'The Da Vinci Code' is poisonous trash. Here is a website, called 'Jesus Decoded' launched by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops that disputes central points of this best-selling nonesense.

Really? I mean, ok it has some ridiculous ideas which are pretty annoying - but I read it and enjoyed it as a story without needing to believe the theory. I doubt many people will actually believe it - or if it's even meant to be believed. It's just a story. Can't see it's any more harmful than harry potter!

Dan Brown forward to the book gives the impression that he is writing about facts. He is in fact not. But many people believe he is. Antonia was correct that it is "poisonous trash!"

The reason I think it's a posinous book is beacuse, like Danny said, it twists fiction and presents it as fact and starts planting seeds of doubt and lies in people's minds.

It's fine if you have an education in Church history, or a solid unshakable faith, but I would guess the majority of people who read the Da Vinci Code don't!
So people with no other basis for discerning the truth, the lies of the Da Vinic Code BECOME their truth!

I've have a number of conversations with non-religious ple about the Da Vinci Code, and it's pretty clear that they have taken a lot of what the book says as truth and fact.....

Unlike Harry Potter, which is clearly fiction, the Da Vinci Code is dealing with a very real subject and blending in complete lies, and in so doing could affect, in a very real way, one's eternal salvation.

That's why I think it is posinous....because it could poison one's faith and soul....and I think it's trash because of the subject it is based on (i.e. that Jesus had children with Mary Magdalene and the "evil" Catholic Church have been trying to hide this for thousands of years...*rolls eyes*!!)
