As medical students we are often told to make sure that when we speak with patients we speak clearly, and ensure that we avoid medical jargon and use language that patients can understand.
This morning provided a rather humerous, albeit unfortunate, example of the important of this advice!!
My friend & I were on the Wards and tottled off to see one of the patients. My friend was conducting the medical interview and they were discussing the patient's general medical health and any past health problems he may have...
Friend: Could you please tell me whether you've ever had any respiratory problems in the past?
Patient: *looks shocked* Oh no no no no! Never! No no!
*pauses*
Patient: Why do you ask? Why should I be having spiritual problems...?!
Friend:.......errrrrr......I meant breathing problems...
ooopsie!!

Very funny!
Antonia, why haven't you put a pin in my Frapper Map? I only have six pins so far.
Yours in Christ,
Thursday
okay, I will put a pin up for where I come from in Italy! Dont really want to put one up of my home in England cos it'll then be very obvious where I am from & what Uni I go to....which I dont really want the world to know! (altho I wouldn't mind tell you!)
okay, you will soon have 7 pins... :-)
