our Pope
hey!
just my 2 cents on our new Pope Benedict. Apart from spending the whole evening thanking God for him and going around with a massive grin on my face, I have been contemplating the use of the word "conservative" that much of the media have branded him with regarding his attitude towards morality.
I've come to the conclusion that I don't agree with the use of this word to describe him.
It implies that there is a sliding scale of available beliefs ranging from totally agreeing with things such as sexual promiscuity, rampant homosexuality, contraception, etc etc all the way to being completely against all these things. and that Pope Benedict tends towards the 'conservative' end of the spectrum.
While this kaleidoscope of beliefs may exist in secular society this is not at all the case with Catholic church. There is no possibility of "choice" for what YOU think is right or wrong...there is only one truth, the truth of God.
Pope Benedict is very strong in proclaiming that one absolute truth, and that makes him a GOOD CATHOLIC and not a 'conservative'.
How can you be conservative if there is only one right option?
Those people who call him "conservative" do so because they want to distance themselves from him & all he stands for, in order to be able to justify their sinful life choices and dissenting opinions, whilst still claiming to be 'Catholic'.
ps-- watch out all you pro-abortion "Catholics" (I don't believe such a thing exists...you cant love sin and God)
