One sunny day at camp the Priests decided to celebrate mass outdoors on the decking of the main lodge.
Throughout mass the Priest's back was facing the lake on which there were about 15 geese happily swimming about.
Myself and a number of other people were able to witness the miracle that occured with these geese during mass.
From the start of the Eucharistic prayer I looked up, being absorbed in the holy words the priest was saying, and letting my eyes rest on the beauty of nature surrounding me, when I noticed the geese on the lake.
They were all clustered together on the lake and every single goose was still and silent.
I kid you not, EVERY SINGLE GOOSE had its head bowed down and was facing the altar. Not one moved at all.
They were all still, silent and appeared oh-so reverant with their heads lowered and all 15 facing the altar!
It's like they knew what was going on and that Jesus was really and truely present on the altar.
I was Eucharistic Minister during communion so I didn't get to check out the geese, but a friend of mine who had also noticed them told me thatthey were motionless and facing the altar throughout communion too.
At the end of communion when I got back to my place I looked up at them and the group had broken up and they were gently gliding around the lake.
It just brought such joy to the rest of my day!
The animals can sense God's real presence in the Eucharist!
St. Francis - Pray that we may all have greater faith in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
St. Joachim & St. Anne - Pray for us
(it was their feast day when this happened)
