This last week has been extremly draining. I had an 11 HOUR day on Tuesday and an 10 HOUR day on Wednesday that I never quite recovered from for the rest of the week. I was so exhausted by Thursday that I thanked God that I had Friday off! (well, technically speaking I was supposed to be doing 'self-directed learning' but....um...I'll do it another day!) I so needed to sleep and recover.
Clinical School is really quite hard. One is required to be menatlly alert, active, processing, learning and constantly on one's toes throughout the entire day as lecturers, supervisors and doctors throw questions left right and centre about complicated stuff we *should* know.
Plus the stress of this week was much much augmented by the fact that I had to make the decision regarding wedding reception venues. That almost totally wiped me out. My dead-line for contemplation was Thursday, as the provisional bookings I had made for the various venues was due to run out and so I needed to make a final decision. I was up till almost 1am on Wednesday reading brochures again, calculating cost differences between the various venues and trying to think where I would prefer, and which would best suit our guests etc etc.
In the end I decided to go for the Golf Course venue mainly because you get 2 rooms, a balcony and a grassy out-door area all in one, which is better than just having one large room or marquee.
I spent my 'free' day on Friday reading the new Harry Potter book ("HP & the Mudblood Price"). Contrary to what Chris told me..it's a really really good book!! Possibly one of the best!! I really enjoyed it! I've spent about 15hours in the last 2 days reading it! All I have to say is....I CANT BELIEVE..that person..DID THAT TO..that other person!!! (if you've read it you'll know exactly who I mean!!)
anyway, in between reading HP today, I also spent a few hours in town looking in all the paper/card/artsy type shops for various pretty wedding invitations and/or pretty paper. We have decided to make our own wedding invites for the sake of saving some $$$ (for some reason I dont have a pounds-sterling key on my keyboard..?).
We want to get a pretty blank wedding card, and then get some of that recycled cotton-like paper with the pressed flowers in, and print the wedding invitation details on that, and then tie it into the blank card with a ribbon. or something like that!
The search didn't go too well, so I may have to resume internet searching.
anyway, tomorrow Chris' Uncle is coming up to our town and so we are gonna spend the day with him. His Uncle is a Priest and will be the Priest who will preside over our wedding mass.
I am also trying to do some research work regarding where I want to do my medical elective in spring 2007. You see, we get a chance to spend 7 weeks of our 5th year at Medical School 'working' in a hospital anywhere round the world...doing anything we want. I wanted to do something Catholic-y...maybe helping teach Natural Family Planning with Mother Theresa's Sisters of Charity in India...or maybe work at a Catholic Hospital somewhere round the world.
The thing is, in early summer 2007 Chris will be going to a Physics conference in HAWAII so I was thinking of maybe doing my elective out there, so that I meet up with him when he comes over...
But I'm not sure yet. Any ideas would be really welcome...
anywayz, I better go now and say my prayers. I have been so tired that I havent said my daily rosary for 2 days!
g'nite

I like the redesign of the blog, but you got rid of the picture of Raphael! He's my guardian Angel. I'll post on my story about him on my site some time.
Yours in Christ,
Thursday
heya!
Thanks for your comment! I will be putting back up all my pictures as soon as I get some free time to do it...! I LOVE St. R too though! He's also helped me many-a-time in very clear and powerful ways! I look forward to your story! -x-
Great blog which I found using american wedding search. Wedding issues and the stress it can cause for american wedding are worth it in the end for stable relationships.
Antonia, I found your blog through St.Peters helpers, I couldnt help but notice that you too are engaged! I am hoping to be married by june or july we are yet to make the final dates. My fiance and I are both Catholic so i'm sure we are learning a lot of simmilar things.
Good luck with it all
